Peter Long serves as the Special Assistant to the CEO of The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. His research focuses on U.S. global health policy and the social determinants of health at a population level. Before returning to Kaiser, Mr. Long was a Senior Program Officer and Director of Research and Planning at The California Endowment in California where he lead the Endowment’s efforts to secure health insurance for all children in California. Mr. Long also has served as an independent health policy consultant for a wide range of regional clients. Previously, he served as a senior health policy analyst at Kaiser and as a legislative analyst for the National Progressive Primary Health Care Network in South Africa. He received his bachelor’s in Modern European History from Harvard; his masters in health science from Johns Hopkins; and his doctorate in Health Services from the University of California, Los Angeles
