Adam Drewnowski

Adam Drewnowski is the Director of the Center for Public Health Nutrition at the University of Washington in Seattle, Professor of Epidemiology, Adjunct Professor of Medicine, and the Director of the UW Center for Obesity Research. His research deals with social and economic disparities in health and the links between obesity and poverty. He created the Nutrient Rich Foods Index, a novel nutrient profiling method that ranks foods by their nutrient content. Dr. Drewnowski is the author of over 200 research papers, reviews and book chapters and was the 2008 Astor Visiting Lecturer at Oxford University. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine Standing Committee to Prevent Childhood Obesity and works closely with foundations, international regulatory agencies and expert panels. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Balliol College, Oxford in the UK and his PhD from the Rockefeller University in New York.
