James O. Hill, PhD, is Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of Colorado Denver. He is President of the American Society for Nutrition and Past President of the Obesity Society. He has published more than 350 scientific articles and book chapters. Many of these focus on the importance of healthy eating and physical activity in preventing and treating obesity. Dr. Hill is a cofounder of the National Weight Control Registry, a registry of individuals who have been successful in weight loss maintenance. He is also co-founder of America On the Move, a weight gain prevention initiative that inspires Americans to make small lifestyle changes. He wrote The Step Diet Book in 2004. He is working to make metro Denver the healthiest community in the country. He holds a doctorate degree from the University of New Hampshire in Physiological Psychology.
