Amy McGuire Porter

Amy McGuire Porter is the Executive Director of the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). During her tenure the foundation has become a global leader in the creation of specially configured, high-impact public-private partnerships in biomedical research. The Foundation’s portfolio has grown to some 90 programs supported by approximately $435 million generated from private contributions. Recently, the NIH was included in the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s 400 Best Charities and is ranked first among medical research charities by Charity Navigator. Prior to joining the foundation, Porter served as Director of Development of the National AIDS Fund and was National Director of Development, Major Gifts for Volunteers of America, a national nonprofit organization that provides health and human service programs to 1.5 million people across the United States each year. Porter received her bachelor’s from Kent State University.
