William A. Haseltine

William A. Haseltine, PhD is president of the William A. Haseltine Foundation for Medical Sciences and the Arts, a foundation that supports access to high-quality health care for the poor and middle class in developing countries and that also fosters a dialogue between sciences and the arts. He is an adjunct professor at the Scripps Institute for Medical Research. Dr. Haseltine is well-known for his work on cancer, HIV/AIDS, and genomics. He was a professor at Harvard Medical School from 1976 to 1993 and chairman of Human Genome Sciences, Inc., from 1993 to 2004. He serves as a member of the board of trustees of several foundations and NGOs, and has been an advisor to several biotechnology and venture-capital companies.
