Estee Lauder
Evelyn H. Lauder is the Corporate Executive Vice-President at Estee Lauder. She has spent a lifetime in various philanthropic pursuits, more recently in women’s health. She co-created the pink ribbon as the symbol for breast health and when the subject was still taboo in the late eighties, she encouraged editor friends to write about the subject. In 1990 she conceived of a breast center for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center with coordinated services which has served as a model for other hospitals worldwide. In October the breast center bearing her name, which is three times the size of the first center, will be inaugurated. In 1992, she founded The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the first foundation exclusively focused on coordinated translational research in this disease. To date the Foundation supports 166 researchers around the world and has raised over $250 million dollars and is working with other foundations to expand the field
